* I must confess. I didn't celebrate Earth Day by doing anything really great for the earth exactly. I have decided to cut up old shirts and make them into crochet string market bags but I haven't started them. I did horrible stuff for the earth as go through and throw away mail, shred paper and trash it, mow the lawn, kill many mosquitoes! I ate really crappy food for me and did laundry (not earth friendly). I have all my lights on in the house right now. I guess I'm a bad tenant this year.
I usually try to do good things year round though. I recycle, keep my house temp high in the summer and low in the winter, I use vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice, and elbow grease to clean. I wash my car at home with a bit of liquid dish soap and water opposed to mean green and all the chemicals that entails. I do not poison my lawn. I have a wide variety of weeds growing and I call it grass! Those weeds keep growing back for a reason! If they do pop up on my rocky areas I kill them with boiling water. I am growing my own tomatoes, I have a compost (eh mostly just worm food) pile- I won't me using it for gardening this year. I am planning on burying it and starting over in a new spot. I do not usually buy new, I try to buy used or use what I have to make due! I am trying to go mostly vegetarian again.
So I guess I use earth day to consume since I try to keep my consumption low the rest of the year. I know I should do more, but it's a good start!
* I have a career now! I'm very excited! I will work in the Central Sterile Processing Department of Barnes Jewish Hospital. There are a ton of perks including tuition reimbursement, gym membership discounts, metro discounts, great health, dental, and vision plans, adoption aiding program, and childcare facilities....Really Awesome and I'm super excited to join a team that provides all the surgical utensils to the world renowned doctors of Barnes Jewish!!! yay!! Plus scrubs are provided and washed at the hospital, I know it's for health and disease reasons but really...I don't have to do laundry for work or buy a uniform??? How Cool! My sister pointed out that working there I may be accepted to attend Wash U. The number 12 college in the nation according to National Universities Ranking. Acceptance rate is only 21.7% so it would take a miracle to get in, but still, it's amazing.
*We have streaming video on the Xbox 360 from Netflix. I save a ton of money and time using it. I love it. Enough said!
